The intelligent strategic tendencies of senior managers are considered one of the fundamental factors in determining the fate of organizations and can determine their path to success or failure. Although numerous studies have examined the causes of business failure, few studies have examined this issue from the perspective of managers' strategic tendencies. This study aimed to provide a pattern of the strategic tendencies of senior managers. The qualitative-qualitative research methodology, meta-synthesis and thematic analysis, is a sequential strategy and was followed in two phases: In the first qualitative method, based on meta-synthesis, open, axial and selective codes were extracted by reviewing the literature and research background. In the second qualitative method, based on thematic analysis, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with eight top managers of medical equipment trading companies. Sampling was purposive and used the snowball technique. The resulting data were reviewed using the thematic analysis method and the final pattern was identified. Agreement between two independent coders was also used for validation and reliability assessment. The findings showed that the pattern of intelligent strategic tendencies of senior managers in the form of 10 selected codes included: normativeness, moralism, behaviorism, institutionalism, rationalism, environmentalism, pluralism, discourseism, developmentalism, and benchmarking tendencies.
