The current era, characterized by the accelerating pace of technological transformations, has redefined traditional concepts of efficiency. The present study was conducted with the aim of comprehensively identifying and exploring the opportunities and threats affecting organizational productivity in the face of emerging technological transformations, with the purpose of developing a strategic roadmap for organizations navigating this paradigm shift. In terms of its objective, this study is applied, while in terms of its nature, it is qualitative and adopts an interpretive phenomenological approach. The statistical population consisted of managers, information technology experts, and productivity specialists in medium-sized and large Iranian organizations with experience in implementing emerging technologies. Purposeful sampling was employed and continued until theoretical saturation was reached, resulting in 20 in-depth, semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed using the thematic analysis method proposed by Braun and Clarke through three stages of open, axial, and selective coding. The data analysis process led to the identification of 113 initial codes, which were classified into 29 organizing themes and ultimately eight overarching themes. The findings indicate that technological transformations present organizations with a paradoxical combination of strategic opportunities—in the operational, customer-oriented, and innovation dimensions—and serious threats in the human, security, ethical, and economic domains. The extracted codes reflect the necessity of maintaining a balance between digital efficiency and human wisdom within the structure of modern organizational productivity.
